Our History

Housed within the Old School Room of the Rivington Unitarian Chapel and with original brickwork dating back to the 16th Century, the colonial building now masked as Rivington Village Green Tea Room still stands firmly in place to the very day after having sustained many disastrous winters since it was first built.

It’s no secret that the Rivington Village Green Tea Room has gone from strength to strength over the years, and this has only been made possible by the love and passion invested since the early 1980’s when the business was founded and operated by Elsie.

Handed down through two generations of the same family, both Jayne and Jade Tolen are now equally responsible for the daily upkeep and operations of Rivington Village Green Tea Room, working as a very close knit family team to ensure that many hundreds of customers remained consistently happy and satisfied.

From the very moment that customers walk through the huge solid oak doors into the tea room, the feel of nostalgic Lancashire engulfs your spirit and beckons you to come in, take a seat and gently un-wind to the relaxing sound of the honkey-tonk piano played by a very talented pianist.

This is where magic has always remained since the days of old… and this is exactly where the same feelings of comfort of joy remain.  When will you join us to exprerience it for yourself?
